You need to be certain where the ball is going to go, especially on the putting green. The art of visualization is an amazing technique when used properly. It will enhance your performance.
The key is to visualize the ball going into the cup before the actual stroke.
One of the best techniques I ever learned was reading a putt backwards. Here’s what to do. First, look at the cup and imagine how the ball will enter the hole. You really need to recreate what it would look like – this is the most important part of the visualization process. The goal is to convince yourself the ball is going nowhere else but into the cup. Your visualization must be crystal clear. See it going into the cup three or four times – even try to hear what it sounds like. Once you have determined how the ball will enter the cup bring your awareness slowly back to the ball. In a nutshell, that’s the art of reading greens
The next step is determining an initial starting line for the putt. This is the only conscious decision you need to make. From this point forward all you need to do is set yourself up for the put. Aim your body and club in the direction you want the ball to go let it go. Your sense of feel will naturally deliver the right amount of force to the ball.
